HK journey (Part 3)

Wednesday (31/12/2008)

9.00am - We used the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) from Wanchai station to the Causeway Station to get to Times Square. We did arrive there but my dad is not too happy about seeing familiar things that can be seen in Malaysia. So, we had to make an alternative plan. So, we went back to the Causeway Bay Station and take a train to Tsim Sha Tsui, where there is a big possibility of finding 'halal' food. And so, off we go.

11.30am - We arrived in Tsim Sha Tsui but the distance to the exit from where we embarked from the train was like forever (so tiring, as HK has long walking distances to and from the trains). We exited from the station and we can see the Kowloon mosque on our left. It's quite a big mosque in the middle of Kowloon. So, we asked the people there if they know any whereabouts of obtaining 'halal' food.

12.00pm - Me and my parents walked to Chungking Mansion after the guy at the mosque tells my mom about halal food at the place. And so, we arrived there and went up to the first floor. And there it was, the 'HALAL FOOD' signboard. The name of this small restaurant is Baba Jee Mess, owned by a former Malaysian who has now lived in Hong Kong for 19 years. He was Pakistani-born but he married a Malaysian wife and now has 3 children, all of them in Malaysia.

12.30pm - Lunch is served. My parents shared a plate of white rice with chicken (maybe rendang, I'm not so sure) while I ate nasi briyani with mutton (umm...yum yum). That's the 1st time I had a proper meal since arriving in Hong Kong.

1.00pm - After I paid for lunch, an exchange of "thank you" between the owner and his workers and my family. The food was delicious. If I was to come to Hong Kong again, I would know where to go for eating.

We then took a walk through the Tsim Sha Tsui area. Most of the shops were branded. However, there is a few shops that sell cheap goods. Like this one shop, they sell branded watches which is full of diamonds (whether it is real it remains to be seen) for only HK$49 each. If we buy 2 of it, it becomes HK$80. If we buy 3, it'll be HK$100. I feel a sense of regret of not buying them. Even more regrets when I didn't buy the HK$10 small purse for a known friend of mine. THE REGRET. ARGH!!!

3.30pm - We walked to the Tsim Sha Tsui ferry pier where we had been there before in the previous day. The RM1 ferry ride back to Wan Chai ferry pier. And so, we took the ferry back to Wan Chai and arrived at the hotel in no time. Then, I continued to blog about the 2nd day of my HK journey.

4.00pm - My dad wants to use my laptop so I had to compromise. I then took a little nap until 6 'o' clock in the evening. My dad was watching the Scorpions perform on YouTube and then played a little Elvis Presley until 7.50pm. Then, I took control of my laptop again, with which I used to write Part 3 of this HK journey (as you can see in the title above)

8.45pm - 3 hours and 15 minutes away from the New Year (2009). As I end Part 3 of my HK journey, I would like to wish everyone a prominent Happy New Year and may we fulfil our New Year's resolution for the year to come.

I'll finish up on the rest of my journey to HK back in Malaysia. As of now, I only have 1 hour and 25 minutes of Internet left as I had only subscribed for 24 hours of the Net within the hotel.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! Be prepared for possible financial gloom in the year ahead. It won't be a happy new year if nothing is done to stimulate the recessionary economy. Good night and salam.

HK journey (Part 2)

Tuesday (30/12/2008)

8.30am - Me and my parents took a taxi to the Peak Tram station. Once there, we took the tram up to the Peak. The ride was so fascinating as we go up the slope as we start to see the whole of Hong Kong on the way to the Peak.

9.15am - We arrived at the Peak. It was so cold as it is quite high up the hill. I could see the whole of Hong Kong from the Peak. No such things as short buildings here in Hong Kong. Every building was at least 60 storeys high. Can you imagine tall buildings being so close together to one another?

10.15am - Then, we dropped by McD as my dad was hungry. After that, I went to this one shop on the Peak named "Wooden House". I bought some souvenirs there. I wouldn't tell what they are yet. From there, we went to the Hard Rock Cafe shop which sells clothes.

11.00am - After taking some pictures on the Peak, me and my parents went to drink milk and hot chocolate respectively at Pacific Coffee shop. Finally, an interaction with the Net at last. I used the computer there to check my mail and surf some websites.

12.00pm - We went down from the Peak by tram once more. The gradient of the slope was real sharp all the way but the way they designed the floor of the tram that people does not easily slip down the tram while they are standing.

12.20pm - As we embarked from the tram, I can see many people waiting in line for the tram. This is mainly because the Peak is one of the main attractions in Hong Kong that is not to be missed. Luckily we went early in the morning to avoid the congestion of people. Then, we took a taxi to Central Pier 6.

12.45pm - From the pier, we took a ferry to Lantau Island (where Disneyland is situated in HK). But we weren't going to Disneyland yet. My dad decided that we are to visit the Po Lin Monastery (where the largest bronze statue Buddha is situated) and Tai O Fishing Village.

2.30pm - After arriving at the Mui Wo ferry pier, we took a bus to Tai O. We forego the trip to Po Lin Monastery because we're short on time and we are not sure how far it is to Tai O by bus (night time here is 6.00pm).

3.15pm - How my mom was right. We only arrived at Tai O 45 minutes after departure. The road leading to it was full of curves and slopes (not to mention a lot of bus stops along the way, also it reminds me of the way to Cameron Highlands). The first thing we did after arriving there was sitting on the bench, eating biscuits and bread. After that, we explore the shops in Tai O (this place has a lot of bicycles to be rented though). Most of them sell products associated with fish and seafood. We were window shopping most of the time.

4.30pm - After exploring, we decided to go back to the hotel. We took the bus back to Mui Wo Ferry Pier and then, we took a ferry back to Central Pier. It was real cold at the time.

6.15pm - We arrived at Central Pier and then we took a taxi back to the Renaissance Harbour View hotel. We arrived there 15 minutes later.

6.35pm - As we arrived back at the hotel, I started playing Football Manager on the laptop, like I used to during post-IB.

10.00pm - I've decided to use the internet service provided by the hotel, but at a price. 24 hours for HK$120. Quite expensive, ain't it? But I'm so bored without Internet in HK, so I've decided to subscribe it. I started blogging about HK and then chat with a few of my friends.

12.00am - It was time for me to sleep. It's been a tiring day. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.............

That's done for my second day of the trip. I'll blog about Part 3 later as my dad wants to use the Net on my laptop.

HK journey (Part 1)

Monday (29/12/2008)

5.30am - My cousin-in-law sent me and my parents off to KLIA. In his Myvi (How Myvi is poular nowadays? I'd describe it as "a car of all situations") This symbolises a start of a 5 day mourning for my cat, who would sit at the gate light and wait for its owners to come home every night until the imminent return

6.20am - I arrived at the airport and we checked-in.

9.15am - Bye-bye Malaysia. On flight MH 72, we were bound for our destination for a man-made island in HK, which is the Hong Kong International Airport, a proud home to the world's longest airport terminal, situated on Lantau Island. I can assure you that I play games on the screen provided by the airline. ZUMA!

12.40pm - As scheduled, we landed on the runway of HK airport. The runway was so long that it took like forever that only would we stop at the terminal 10 minutes after we land.

1.00pm - We took a taxi from the airport to the Renaissance Harbour View hotel in Hong Kong Island. The starting price of taxis is the standard of HK$16 (RM7.5) on the metre. Even Malaysia's metre taxis start at only RM2 (maybe that's why some taxi drivers refused to use the metres, because they're too cheap and it doesn't reflect the true costs of operating their respective taxis [my sympathies are with them]). We arrived about 40 minutes later as traffic congestion is not that bad in Hong Kong (at the time).

3.30pm - After taking a small break in the hotel room, me and my parents decided to explore the area around the hotel, starting with the Golden Bauhinia Square, two blocks away. Situated there is a golden statue, one of many main attractions in the whole of Hong Kong. We continued to stroll near the sea, with the sight of small-time fishermen, catching with a passion.

4.30pm - After the stroll and some pictures taken along the way, we took a ferry from the Wan Chai Pier (right in front of our hotel) to Tsim Shat Sui (a place with many shopping complexes, compared to Hong Kong island which is quite dull and is full of commercial buildings). The ferry ride for each person is only HK$2.20 (RM1.05). Can you imagine getting a cheap ferry fare somewhere else? Not to mention the sightseeing part is very nice (even nicer at night, the building were full of colourful lights). All for RM1.

4.50pm - We arrived at the Tsim Shat Sui Pier and as we walk out onto the streets, it's full of PEOPLE! So congested and yet, so smooth in traffic. While strolling through various shopping complexes, I can see people lining-up at a Louis Vuitton shop!!! (Due to the crowd bla bla bla.... as said by the notice board) This particular pattern shows how some HK people are brand conscious. This pattern of lining-up can be seen at other shops. See what strong brand names can implicate on people (Recall Business HL)

6.15pm - After walking inside 'The Gateway', possibly the longest shopping complex in the world, we took the ferry back to Wan Chai Pier, not to mention taking pictures along the way. If Malaysia has ISA, so does Hong Kong (although metaphorically, it's not really the Internal Security Act, it's a brand name of a shop by the way). Hong Kong is just so beautiful at night. The colourful lights can be seen on every major building in HK. (At 6.00pm, it's already nightfall in HK, although HK time is synchronized with Malaysia)

6.45pm - We arrived back at the hotel as the pier is only walking distance from our hotel. For dinner, we ate MAGGI. My mom bought about 20 packets of Maggi as supply for this trip. She also bought biscuits and Milo Fuse 3 in 1. You can describe how hard it is to eat here except bread.

8.00pm - Tired by the walking and all, we retired to sleep. It may still be early in Malaysia but in HK, nothing is too early. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.........................

I'll continue blogging about the 2nd day of my HK journey tomorrow. I need to sleep already as 12.00am approaches. Good nite everyone. Sleep tight. And salam too.

Post IB

EXAMS ARE OVER! IB IS OVER!
That's one part of life. Now, I'll have to start all over again for uni next March. I'll hope that I have a new lease of life by then.

What have I done during post-IB so far? Well, the main thing on my mind is Football Manager 2008. Yup, a computer game that I'm addicted since I started playing it. Now, I'm managing Dagenham & Redbridge in year 2025. How old would I be by then? 36.

However, it's not all games for me during the holidays. I do read a few books to spare good time for myself. Guess what? I made a huge and sudden breakthrough in my life, which is reading Harry Potter. I bought the final part, "The Deathly Hallows" as I was so eager to know the ending of Harry Potter and his friends. The book may be 850 pages long but somehow, I managed to finish it in only 2 days. (Never skipped a page, I can assure you that)

Not to mention another good book;
March 8: The Day Malaysia Woke Up
Kee Thuan Chye (Author)

That book really reveals how people are not afraid to change status quo within the government of Malaysia. For 50 years BN ruled its roost. Isn't it time for a change as they had become stagnant for the last 10 to 15 years or so? Money politics, gerrymandering, and all other dirty tactics we can think of during the elections. :P

Let's hope the new SPR board is clean and fair, unlike previous ones. :P
To prove it, Kuala Terengganu will be their first task in handling a free and fair elections.

A part of the book by Kee was quite touching, "Just call me Guan Eng"
Who was this Guan Eng guy? To those who are in DAP, they'll know straight away. Yessirry, Lim Guan Eng, CM of Penang and son of Lim Kit Siang.

So down to earth was he and yet show his fangs at the right time, Lim Guan Eng was one of those rare breeds of good politicians other than Tok Guru Nik Aziz, the Kelantan MB. There are other good politicians as well, such as Zaid Ibrahim, the man without a party. And yet, he stands to his principle of life as a lawyer, regardless of the circumstances. Where can we get good politicians nowadays? It's a real sad state for most good politicians. Either they are driven out of politics or become part of the corrupt system, which is breeding fresh until today.

Also, I read a good satire (irony) by RPK. Here's the link:

http://national-express-malaysia.blogspot.com/2008/12
/malaysia-today-interviews-home-minister.html (Quite a long HTML)

In the main MT website, you can see one comment is bumped over 500 times. Mostly agreed with the comment. LOL.

As I stop at this point, here is a word that we can ponder for the rest of our lives:

EQUANIMITY

All for one, and one for all. Salam and good nite. :D

IB exams in progress

It's now the 2nd week of exams. I've just completed my Maths paper 2 exam today. That makes it 3 down, 3 to go. Physics is down, Business is down too and Maths is down three. The three subjects left for me is English, Econs and French.

The 1st week of exam is the most stressful for me as I have papers everyday. The 2nd week represents a reprieve as I only have 3 papers, which is Maths paper 2, English paper 1 & 2. But I'm still worried about 'An Evil Cradling' and 'Wind, Sand & Stars'. I'm planning to start reading them today. I have 3 days to make up for it. So, it'll be curtains for me.

Listed below is my remaining schedule for the whole IB exams:

Week 2
Wed (12/11) - English HL (Paper 1) [12.30pm - 2.30pm]
Thu (13/11) - English HL (Paper 2) [8.00am - 10.00am]

Week 3
Wed (19/11) - Econs HL (Paper 1) [12.30pm - 1.30pm]
Wed (19/11) - Econs HL (Paper 2) [2.00pm - 3.00pm]
Thu (20/11) - Econs HL (Paper 3) [8.00am - 10.00am]
Fri (21/11) - French (Paper 1) [8.00am - 9.30am]
Fri (21/11) - French (Paper 2) [10.00am - 11.15am]

Then, I'll be out of jail after 2 years. Sounds like ISA where you're stuck in Kamunting without any trial for two years. But in this case, I call it IBA (IB Act) where you are withheld for 2 years in order to pass the exams. However, it works like house arrest from 8.00am till 3.40pm. Then you go scot-free until the next day and so on and so on. YUP, it's a boring life after all.

Oh well, I gotta go read my 'Evil Cradling' and 'Wind, Sand & Stars'. I'll continue blogging again when I feel like blogging. LOL.

Syahwat lelaki teransang 30 kali sehari

Wow! There's no word to describe it. Here are some reasons for the average 30 times:

1. ADA YANG PAKAI TUDUNG SINGKAT
-Julurnya diikat ke belakang. Atau diikat ke leher. Maka nampaklah 'kegebuan' leher dan dadanya. Sedangkan dalam khutbah tadi, khatib membacakan ayat al-Quran yang meminta wanita melabuhkan tudung, menutup bahagian dada mereka.

2. ADA PAKAI TUDUNG, TAPI PAKAI T-SHIRT LENGAN PENDEK
-

3. ADA PAKAI TUDUNG, TAPI PAKAI JEANS TERAMAT KETAT
-
Alur punggung pun terbelah dua. Bentuk bontot pun terserlah. Apa nak jadi ni?

4. ADA PAKAI TUDUNG, TAPI PAKAI KEBAYA KETAT
-
Apabila berjalan, terserlahlah 'kegebuan' betis malah kadang-kadang paha pun tersembul.

5. ADA YANG PAKAI TUDUNG, TAPI PAKAI KAIN SINGKAT, MACAM MINI SKIRT
-
Kaki bukan auratkah? Pakailah stokin!!!!!!!!

6. RAMAI PEREMPUAN PAKAI TUDUNG, TAPI BERMEKAP TEBAL DAN BERWANGI-WANGIAN
-
Bibir merah menyala. Menunjukkan aksi seksi pula tu.

7. ADA PEREMPUAN BERTUDUNG, 'MERENDEK PULA DENGAN PACAR
-
dekat bangku stesen bas dan pusat beli-belah. Ini menjatuhkan imej wanita bertudung.

8. RAMAI PEREMPUAN SUKA PAKAI KASUT BERTUMIT TINGGI
-
Apabila berjalan berbunyilah, tang, tang, tang.

Lelaki
mudah saja naik syahwatnya sedangkan perempuan tidak. Kebanyakan perempuan ingat lelaki macam dia. Itu tidak benar sama sekali.

Seorang rakan saya memberitahu, satu kajian mendapati lelaki terangsang secara puratanya sebanyak
30 kali sehari. Ini adalah semulajadi. Bukan dibuat-buat. Jadi bukan sesuatu luar biasa jika lelaki naik syahwatnya jika melihat aurat perempuan.

Jangan mahu dibantah hukum-hakam agama.

HENDAK SERIBU DAYA..TAKNAK SERIBU DALIH.....

PANDAI-PANDAI LAH NANTI MENJAWAB DAN BERDALIH DIHADAPAN ALLAH....Tak takut ker???

Saya perhatikan sekarang ini ramai perempuan bertudung. Alhamdulillah.

Lepas tu, disalahkan pula lelaki mata keranjang...Lelaki buaya darat...Lelaki mengganggu..Lelaki sexual harashment.....Sape suruh buat-buat suara manja?? Sape suruh ??? Sapa suruh telanjang dikhalayak ramai??? Sama-sama kita fikirkan..
Wallahua'lam.

So, like...what are your comment guys? For me, it is a bit too one-sided. Men cannot blame women 100% for things they've done wrong to women, such as rape and sexual harassment. Even there are a few cases where perempuan yang betul-betul tutup aurat kena rogol and bunuh. Remember Noor Suzaily Mokhtar?

Welcome to the BN economics

WE, THE RAKYAT, feel cheated by the Malaysian government.

Mengikut formula kerajaan ketika menaikkan harga minyak :

Harga Minyak Global 1 Tong = USD 92.70 (bersamaan dengan RM 319.82)
1 Tong bersamaan dengan 159 liter
Nilai Ringgit sekarang berbanding Dolar = RM 3.45
Harga satu liter > RM 319.82 / 159 liter = RM 2.01

Subsidi kerajaan = RM 0.30
Harga sepatutnya > RM 2.01 - RM 0.30 = RM 1.71 (harga sepatutnya)
Harga sekarang = RM 2.45 sen

Beza kerajaan tipu Rakyat Malaysia = RM 2.45 - RM 1.71 = RM 0.74 per liter.

Claim, Evidence & Analysis

Claim #1 - Anwar is never a threat to the economy of Malaysia and was never a security threat to the country.

Evidence #1 - In the answer to the question: "Abdullah claims that Anwar is the cause of the worsen economic climate. What is your opinion Mr. Johari?"

Analysis #1 - The economic climate is so bad until the PM take action by switching portfolios with his deputy. From Finance Minister to Minister of Defense. How irresponsible can that be??? After presenting the budget in Parliament, the budget was not even debated yet when he switched portfolios. Kenapa PM? Takut? Bagi Najib tanggung dan kena hentam media? You and your 'peralihan kuasa' plan konon. You know the economy is getting worse by the day because of potential stagflation. If you can't handle it, I suggest new leadership is needed. The FDIs are withdrawn because of you, PM. So, think hard about this and be sensible like Fukuda, former premier minister of Japan. When he knows he couldn't solve the problems at hand, he resigns with his honour and integrity intact. Be sensible and do the same.

Claim #2 - ISA is a kuno law. It's very unethical and immoral and also a barrier to democracy. It should be abolished immediately.

Evidence #2 - RPK is sent to Kamunting for 2-year imprisonment under the ISA. Not to mention the Hindraf leaders and the other innocent people locked up without trial. To HELL with racism! They are human beings too. And most importantly, they are Malaysians.

Analysis #2 - As Dr. Martin Luther King describes in his 'Letter from Birmingham Jail: "A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. To put it in the terms of St. Thomas Aquinas: An unjust law is a human law that is not rooted in eternal law and natural law. Any law that uplifts human personality is just. Any law that degrades human personality is unjust." ISA is an unjust law that degrades human personality. I must say that if one respects the just law, they must break the laws that are unjust and must do so openly in respect of the law. Too long has democracy being denied to the people of Malaysia. People voted for change, so let's work towards the change.

(To be continued next time...)

Possible change of government?

Source: http://www.harakahdaily.net/

HARAKAH: Setengah pihak menimbulkan kekeliruan mengenai tarikh 16 September.

Nak beli berapa kita nak beli? Sejuta? Dua juta?

Macam bebaskan tahanan ISA.

Berapa banyak kerusi PAS? Kurang dari KeADILan tetapi adakah hak orang Melayu dah tergadai? Dan Nizar masih berjaya sebagai Menteri Besar.

Cuma propanganda BN membuatkan kita dilihat terlalu melebihi orang bukan Melayu.

Selepas permintaan mengadakan sidang tergempar parlimen tak dilayan, apa langkah seterusnya?

Tengok keadaannya.

Perpaduan Pakatan Rakyat sekarang bagaimana?

Perpaduan adalam Pakatan Rakyat kukuh.

Hubungan kita semakin rapat.

Random

As of today, we have 61 days left to the big day. We January intake people know how serious the day can be and the days that lie ahead.

I really need to brush up a few topics on Mathematics, Physics, Economics and Business. For French and English, I don't know what to do for those two.

Seriously, IB really is destroying me, bit by bit. I just hope I'll pull through in the end. When I was in Penang, I re-think my life and with all the distractions around me, especially girls that I'm attracted to, I decided that it's time for me to put a stop to a streak. With the IQ puzzle to keep me company, nothing can distract my mind from the puzzle.

I still remember the first time when I bought the puzzle in Gurney Drive. RM7 was all it worth. Ezriq got it for free because he managed to solve the puzzle in 10-15 minutes. Not bad for a first timer. Meanwhile, I was really struggling with the puzzle. I got really frustrated that night and I thought to myself, it ain't worth RM7 as far as I'm concerned. This thing is like the next Rubik nightmare in my mind.

The next morning, while waiting for Azam to finish his bath, I decided to have another crack at the puzzle. Miraculously, I solved it. "Oh my God. Haish." That's all I can say. That day, I solved the puzzle 6 times. I was getting used to the puzzle already. I still remember that I brought the puzzle to the beach in front of Sri Sayang at night for campfire. I left it on the beach somehow and I said to myself, "Oh no! I can't live without my puzzle."

First thing in the morning, I went down to the beach at 7.00a.m to find my puzzle. When I found it, it was a miracle that it remained in the same place. "I'm not going to let you out of my sight ever again." Then I went back to the hotel and continued sleeping.

From then on, I was hooked to the puzzle. I have no problems with solving the puzzle, it was only a matter of how fast can I solve it. The fastest I can do at the time is 20 minutes. "Slowpoke," I said to myself. I kept practising and practising and practising until I made a breakthrough. 10 minutes. Same standard as Ezriq, Rubik Cube professional. 10 minutes just not good enough.

I practised and made another breakthrough. Twice I solved the puzzle under 5 minutes. Then, at go home time, Khairil really made a good mess of my puzzle, and miraculously, I solved it within 3 minutes. That's such lightning progress. Now, my next target is 2 minutes. It's possible, but almost Mission Impossible.

WHEN THERE'S A WILL, THERE'S A WAY.

Permatang Pauh

Looks like the media run by BN cronies are at it again. They are trying to fool the people of Permatang Pauh with the word 'pembangunan'. Hmm... will this 'pembangunan' necessarily be beneficial for the people there? I say not at all. Their tactics of exposing disgruntled citizens about dirty water supply for the last 35 years are actually exposing their own weaknesses of the government. What has the government actually did in the last 35 years over that issue of dirty water supply?

Even if the Opposition rules Permatang Pauh, does the wakil rakyat have enough personal funds to pay the Jabatan Bekalan Air for clean water? Of course, one cannot expect the wakil rakyat to withdraw his/her own money to get clean water supply for the people. That's why the funds are supposed to come from the federal government. But what action has the BN government take to fix this so-called problem in Permatang Pauh? I would say little, but I can bravely say nothing at all.

Look, compare the budget of Pakatan Rakyat to the BN government. Pakatan Rakyat has only a few billion ringgit to run on as they are ruling 5 states (not including Federal Territory) compared to the BN government's hundreds of billions of ringgit to rule Perlis, Pahang, Terengganu, Johor, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah and Sarawak. And the BN cronies' media already trying to make a bad name out of Pakatan Rakyat, even though they only ruled for 5 months. Isn't this an unfair assessment of the Pakatan Rakyat government ruling the 5 states? The jury is still out, so... I think the PR has so far done a good job of ruling the 5 states, even on a very tight budget, compared to the wasteful BN government whose funds could have been allocated better for the people.

The RMK9 as you know has an initial cost of RM200 billion. Then, boom! They put in an additional RM30 billion into the project. Just for one simple reason, oil prices. Being a net oil exporter, it sounds a bit ridiculous. I wonder why they have to pay the contractors an extra RM30 billion for this project? Rising costs? Maybe, but supposed it's not that much. What if the whole project is actually under the initial costs? Wow, that's a steamy question to answer. I'll leave it to all of you to answer, especially the government. LOL!

And yeah, as you all know, Saiful swore on the Quran. And that's already weird. He's the accuser in this case and yet, he swore on the Quran first instead of the accused. And during the swearing, Saiful asked God to 'laknat' himself and his family. That's weird too. Tersasul ke? What if God is trying to show us something? Trying to show us the real truth in this sodomy case? This sign of Saiful tersasul-ing during the swearing of the Quran is one of them. However, I would let time to decide on this issue. Let God do the work.

Holidays have started and I'm already undergoing a studying regime to catchup with time. I just haven't started on Economics and English yet. I want to continue tonight. It's 10.00 'o' clock and time doesn't wait for me. So, happy holiday guys. Don't forget August 26. Everything will unfold in time. Ciao!

Mock exams

The day before the mock exams, I went to Amin's apartment to study French and Physics. In between those study times, I have to relax as I cannot overexert myself on the day before exams, do I?

Then, mock exams came. As I wake up that morning, I was already struck down by flu. That was a serious indication for the rest of the day. Sneezing. It happened during the whole day. I couldn't focus properly during my French and Physics papers. It's really killing me. Not just me, but others as well. They might be distracted from their "train of thought." Oh well, there's nothing I can do about it. So, on we go.

Next day, sneezing continued, but not as frequent as the day before. It really resided during my Econs paper. It was at the time that I could really start thinking again. Business as usual. I haven't touched my Economics book for a long time. So, I have to bank on my memory on what I've learnt. (Do not do this at home.)

I came back home and I watched a bollywood movie with my cousin: "Om Shanti Om".

I was fine at the time and conditions can be really deceiving. As I was taking a bath, suddenly I was freezing... I couldn't imagine how freezing it was at the time, as if I could not let my body be in contact with water. It was as if death is coming towards me in a sudden. It made me remember my past sins and how sorry I was for those things to happen. If only death can be postponed to a later time, then I might be able to change myself into a better person than before.

After that freezing experience, I help myself to dinner. However, I was not in the usual mood to eat as I had my braces scaled during the evening and it was hard to eat. Then, right after eating, I felt a pain sensation inside my head. Headache, fever and cold feet. An indication of exam stress. At that point, I was contemplating whether I should come to school or not the next day.

(To be continued... Zzzzzzz...)

Monday 28 July 2008

Well...

Well, what do you know. Politics have taken another twist. Saiful was never sodomised in the first place. Well, well, well. Looks like UMNO and BN goons are really trying hard to break up the People's Alliance and also stop the rise of Anwar in politics. Well, it almost worked. Nice try goons. You should try harder next time.
LOL :D

Doktor: Tiada kesan Saiful diliwat

Harakahdaily
Mon | Jul 28, 08 | 7:19:05 pm MYT

Pilih Pakatan Rakyat ganti kerajaan UMNO/BN

Semua orang diwajibkan menerima Quraisy segagai bangsa "superior".

Mumaiyyizkah anda?

Pemimpin Muslim Negara Islam
Khosyatullah, Ahmad Baihaqi Bin Saharun "Adakah Engkau Sudah Mumayyis?"

Tahun 2004,

Pemimpin Kerajaan Islam Hadhari Malaysia

Pemimpin Islam Iran

Ia bukan hukuman, tetapi suatu bentuk penyeksaan.

Masakan tidak?

Ditahan tanpa bicara.

Ditahan tanpa had masa.

Tetapi tatkala penahanan berlaku tanpa had masa, ia membunuh segala harapan.

Tanpa harapan tiada kekuatan.

Tanpa kekuatan, manusia mati sebelum mati.

By the way, as you all know, Malaysia-Today has been blocked by government hackers because Anwar Ibrahim is gonna present evidence of his beat-up by the current Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Musa and the IGP general, Datuk Rahim... (the most likely reason). However, being me, I don't know the exact reason why the government hackers blocked Malaysia-Today.

Whatever it is, keep with the updates guys... It's gonna be interesting to see what happens next...

Petrol prices of net oil exporters

Iran — RM0.29 seliter.

UAE — RM1.19 seliter

Venezuela — RM0.16 seliter

Nigeria — RM0.32 seliter

Arab Saudi — RM0.38 seliter

Mesir — RM1.03 seliter

Kuwait — RM0.67 seliter

Brunei — RM2.03 seliter

Malaysia — RM2.70 seliter

I think the government thinks that we, the Rakyat, are so stupid that they compared prices with countries who are net oil importers. Some of the Rakyat didn't realise that. We must never be made stupid again by the government's propaganda.

Petronas could go bust by 2018

By WONG SAI WAN

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas will go bust within 10 years if all its profits are handed to the Government to continue subsidising fuel, said its president and chief executive officer Tan Sri Hassan Marican.

He warned that many national petroleum companies in the world have ceased to exist or were in financial trouble today because all their profits were taken away from them.

Speaking at a special briefing on Petronas’ contribution to the country, Hassan said that in the oil business it was important to reinvest profits in search of new technologies, reserves and continued revenue. Petronas has so far reinvested RM178.9bil of its profits.

“Petronas has played a major role by giving back a substantial amount of its profits to the Government,” he added.

At the close of its financial year in March last year, the national petroleum company had given the Government RM52.3bil in taxes, royalties and dividends which worked out to be 32% of the Federal Government’s revenue.

“Since the formation of Petronas in 1974 to last year, the company gave the Government RM335.7bil out of a total profit of RM570bil,” Hassan said.

Commenting on the fuel price increase, the Petronas boss said the corporation did not make a sen from the increase.

“All the oil companies get full market price for the petrol and diesel that they sell and the Government pay them the difference from the fixed price. This is where the subsidy comes into play,” he added.

Hassan revealed that oil companies operating in the country spent RM40bil a year in drilling and exploration works and a lot of this money was injected into the local economy.

Hassan also pointed out that it was now more expensive for Petronas to explore and extract oil.

“A lot of focus is placed on the high oil prices. There is very little talk about costs. The costs to explore and to drill for oil have increased by about 200% over the past three years.”

Hassan said Exxon Mobil made about US$40bil (RM130.31bil) last year, an increase of only US$1bil (RM3.26bil) from 2006, in an environment of higher crude oil prices.

“That is the world’s biggest, most efficient and most well-run oil company. Margins have eroded,” he said.

Hassan said Petronas was now “ scraping the bottom of the barrel” as far as finding and extracting oil was concerned.

Asked about criticisms that Petronas' accounts and profits were not transparent, Hassan said the corporation published a very detailed annual report which was deposited in the Parliament library.

“For all intents and purposes, Petronas is a public-listed company because we are rated by agencies like Standard and Poors, and Moody. We do not hide anything,” he added.

Now, Hassan says that Petronas is a public-listed company. If it is a public-listed company, how come the accounts are actually reported to only one man, which is the PM? And why was it not revealed enough to the public? Just making statements about the figures without showing the actual accounts can be quite misleading.

OK lah, to be fair, at least he gave figures for us to mull over. Such as the cost of drilling increasing by 200% in the last 3 years. Also, the annual report can be found in the Parliament library. Guys, shall we go for another Parliament trip? To check the accounts? And see whether they are bullshitting or telling the truth...

What's in a barrel of oil? (Part 1)

OK, so... One barrel generally fills up to 42 US gallons. How many litres is that?
42 x 3.78541178 = 158.9873 = 159 litres

There is 159 litres of oil in a barrel. But not all of the oil are used in today's vehicles. What does a barrel of oil consists of? What are the elements?

1. Finished motor gasoline (51.4%)
2. Distillate fuel oil (15.3%)
3. Jet fuel (12.3%)
4. Still gas (5.4%)
5. Marketable coke (5.0%) [Ha??!! That's where Coke drink comes from?? I wonder...]
6. Residual fuel oil (3.3%)
7. Liquefied refinery gas (2.8%)
8. Asphalt and Road oil (1.7%)
9. Other refined products (1.5%)
10. Lubricants (0.9%)

Well, done with listing the elements, the current world crude oil price is at $127.79, we'll take it as $128 to ensure easy calculation. Before that, to un-scare the drinkers of Coke, marketable coke is coke that is relatively pure carbon and can be sold for use as fuel or for the manufacture of dry cells and electrodes. I'm sure you Chemists know about it already.

So, one barrel of oil in MYR is $128 x RM3.26 (as of now) = RM417.28
Gasoline makes up 51.4% of the barrel, so...

(51.4/100) x RM417.28 = RM214.50

How many litres of gasoline in one barrel?

(51.4/100) x 159 = 81.7 litres

So, 1 litre of gasoline is... RM214.50/81.7 litres = RM2.63 on the world market.
Considering petrol is gasoline, the price of Malaysian fuel is RM2.70/litre, not to mention that Malaysia is a net oil exporter. Based on the CIA World Factbook, Malaysia oil exports are about 611,200 barrels/day (2004) and Malaysia oil imports are about 278,600 barrels/day (2004). If you guys can get the latest update on this, it'll be really helpful, so that it is more accurate and more up-to-date.

Now, taking only gasoline prices into account, the BN government is making a profit of RM0.07/litre (RM2.70-RM2.63). However, the price of crude oil can fluctuate anytime. So, if the price of crude oil goes down even further, the more profit they make and vice versa. This is just gasoline. What about the other elements within the barrel?

To jolt your minds, let's go back to December 31, 2007.

We take umbrage to Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s statement which was reported in the NST on 31 December 2007. He was quoted as saying, “The country will go bankrupt if the government reduces oil prices, which are sky-rocketing in the world market. It is not possible for the opposition to bring fuel prices down. It simply does not make sense...they are just trying to fool the people.

“We can use Petronas’ profits to reduce fuel prices, but only if we forego development projects like building schools and universities.”

I mean, guys! What's the credibility of Najib's statement that Malaysia would go bankrupt if they reduce oil prices? Where are the facts and figures?

Facts and figures are far more persuasive in convincing people to accept the line of argument that Najib is promoting. Mere rhetoric will not persuade people to believe that “the country will go bankrupt” if the opposition were to reduce fuel prices when they form the government.

What is Najib’s basis in claiming that “the country will go bankrupt”? Why should it go bankrupt? How does he come to this conclusion?

Najib should table Petronas’ detailed accounts in parliament to substantiate his claim. He owes a duty to Malaysians to provide the detailed accounts so that the people can be convinced that he is justified in claiming that the “the country will go bankrupt”. In the absence of the detailed accounts, Malaysians have a right to dismiss his claim as an extreme exaggeration of a politician who is unable to counter an argument with truth.

When we talk of Petronas’ revenue we are talking about the income generated by our national assets. Our national wealth must be accounted for in a transparent manner. We need to know how much is earned by Petronas and we know in detail how this acquired wealth is being managed and spent. We need to know how much those in the ranks of hierarchy are being paid and how they are rewarded. What kinds of bonuses do they receive? How much is their gratuity when they retire?

This and much more have to be answered honestly.

Why must the earnings and accounts of Petronas be kept away from Malaysians? Why is parliamentary scrutiny into the accounts denied? What is the problem? Does this information fall under the ambit of “national security” that it cannot be divulged? Why should the Prime Minister alone be privy to the details of how this colossal wealth is being managed?

If answers to all these cannot be made public, then Najib should stop fooling the people.

If Parliament cannot exert its authority to demand that the accounts of Petronas be tabled for scrutiny by the elected members of Parliament, then it should stop pretending to be the legislative authority of the Federation. To safeguard its own image “as the source of governmental energy and the seat of national power”, Parliament must act “as the main channel of democratic impulses”. It shouldn’t play a subservient role to the executive and be seen and accepted as doing the biddings of the executive. It shouldn't strengthen the hand of the government by surrendering its own authority to the executive through insidious legislation.

Najib's statement that “we can use Petronas’ profits to reduce fuel prices, but only if we forego development projects like building schools and universities” cannot be taken seriously. This must be a derisive comment. If indeed the profits were used for developmental purposes like building schools, can Najib please explain why 1,555 national schools in the rural areas are without toilet facilities and 794 schools are without electricity as revealed by the Minister of Education last year?

Would the cost of providing such basic amenities to these schools run into billions of ringgit making it impossible to achieve all these years? Does it mean that Petronas has not made that kind of profit all these years to provide such facilities to the poor pupils in rural areas? How can Najib justify such cruel and callous neglect of the most deserving people in the rural areas in a country that is richly endowed with wealth and the means to rectify such deprivation?

It is a widely held belief that the absence of accountability and transparency over the income and expenditure of Petronas has led to an unbelievable squandering and plundering of the nation’s wealth.

(TO BE CONTINUED)...

What's cooking up the world today?

There's one word to describe it. OIL.

There are advantages and disadvantages of raising the price of oil. On 5th of June 2008, 12.00a.m., the BN government has raised the petrol price from RM1.92 to RM2.70, a 78 sen increase. Before the raise, Malaysia have the cheapest petrol price in the ASEAN region, followed by the likes of Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand and Singapore (if I'm not mistaken). Now, at the price of RM2.70, we are behind Indonesia and Brunei but still ahead of Thailand and Singapore in the cheapest petrol category for ASEAN. I have no idea about the petrol prices in other ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Timor Leste. So, I'm just singling out the notable countries.

So, below are the advantages and disadvantages of having the petrol price raised from my point of view:

1. Oil's getting scarce and they are the reason for global warming as carbon emission from cars absorbs (is it the right word) into the atmosphere and caused the ozone layer to be thinner. However, that's not the only factor. The excess deforestation also causes the Earth to heat up and enables the UV ray to reach the ground. So, raising petrol prices are good for efforts to reduce global warming and to encourage people to take public transport to travel to work. However, since the 30 sen rise in petrol price last time around, do we see any improvements in public transport by the government? Only those riding buses, taxis and LRTs can evaluate. I myself haven't ridden a public transport since these few years. Did anyone thought of riding a bicycle to work? Save fuel...

2. Well, by raising the petrol price, it can encourage people to modify their lifestyle into a better lifestyle than before. Smokers especially, will be hit badly if their work income is low and they own a car. Having a motorcycle is not that bad but bad budgeting could lead to a cash-flow crisis. Therefore, it can at least curb some of the smokers' bad habit of smoking. However, the petrol price will really hit the poor people whose budgets are really tight even with the petrol price at RM1.92. The poor gets poorer. However, at least the target is on the richer people, who had been enjoying the same "subsidies" as the poor people that I have mentioned. They will feel a bit of pinch by the petrol price.

3. Higher petrol prices mean more government revenue. This extra revenue can be used towards helping the development of the country and the well-beings of the people, as long the leaders are not corrupted. But in Malaysia's case, we might not have the slightest idea whether the BN government will channel the extra RM56 billion to development for the people. We all knew about PM and his son-in-law, Khairy. Projects were privatised, means more rewards for the cronies. Oh well, let the karma law do its work on those who are unfair towards the other. If justice is blind in this world, then justice won't be blind when we reach the court of God in the world hereafter. I hear people say that the extra money means more going into cronies, corruption and white elephant projects. Sounds like political survival to me. And I forgot one thing from this view, the Malaysian DPM said back in May 31st that the petrol prices are not going to go up at all, even by 40 sen. Also, he asked us not to believe the rumour which is baseless. Well, 99% of rumours in Malaysia is true while the other 1% might probably be true too. This statement proves it at midnight, June 5th. Boom! 78 sen increase. Just like that. Boy, we Malaysians are really rumour-conscious, and it always turned out to be true.

4. Raising petrol prices show that we live in the so-called comfort zone for too long. Pampered by "subsidies", we were always angry each time the government raises the petrol price. Then, it recedes. I mean, are we supposed to be angry at the petrol price in the first place. If we want to be angry, be angry at the right things. Such as, why didn't we pressure the PM to reveal the Petronas accounts to show where the revenue goes? Also, why the PM didn't stick to the promise that they won't raise petrol prices? This may cause more distrust among the citizens toward the PM, who is expected to resign this December and hand over the post to Najib. That is, if Anwar manage to take over the federal government with enough defects between now and December. Now, this raise in petrol price taught us a lesson in a way. Finance is always important and planning the finance carefully may enable us to adapt to any worst case scenario, such as the increase in petrol price as it happens.

5. Raising petrol prices may cause a big change in spending behaviour of consumers. It will cause them to save even further and not spend money on unnecessary goods. Saving is one thing, but what will happen to the money flow if expenditures stop? We might see another repeat of the financial crisis in the 1980's as people are afraid to spend so much money in an unstable economy. This rise in petrol price will surely cause other necessities to go up in price. As Bank Negara claims that the inflation rate of Malaysia is in single-digit figures, they might have to think again. I'm sure we must be aware of the subprime mortgage market in the US that is pulling down the world economy. So, if there is no control on world food prices, we might see more starvation of the people, estimated another 1,000,000,000 people would starve as a result of this spiralling food price.

Well, that's it for now. If there is more analysis to come, I'll continue when I have the time. What's your comments guys? I really appreciate your views.

Holidays so far...

It's already 11.35p.m. as I am writing this post. Tomorrow is the third day of the two-week 'respite'. How time flies. Now, I bet you guys were wandering about how all our friends spend this holiday so far...

On my part, I didn't really do much on Friday after school. Just the routine Friday prayers and then watch TV. It's kind of dull that day. The next day, I started to get into the groove for studying. Even though it's only 2 hours overall, but it's a good start.

Today, I did some more serious studying. 3 hours and a half in all, covering French, Maths and Econs. I haven't touch Physics for quite some time but I'll do that tomorrow I hope.

Ooo...ya. Assignments during holidays.
1. Maths IA (probably our last IA assignment for this subject)
2. Prepare for Oral Presentation on 11th June (I wonder how I am gonna meet up with my group members for discussion... Besides, I haven't send in my Oral Proposal. Dead meat I would say -_-)
3. Journaling (Sigh -_-)
4. CAS forms (Those IBO guys are coming in September, gotta do more activities, especially when it comes to Action)

So, that's all I can remember as far as I am concerned. How bout you guys who are visiting my blog? Feel free to comment on this post...

Peace.
